Cookies are highly
tempting and it is hard to resist when you get a plateful of them in front of
your eyes. While relishing every single bite of it, we thank its creator.
However, do you actually know how and why cookies came into existence? Well,
you will be astounded to find out that the foundation of cookies was completely
unplanned. Long time back, in Dutch, some cooks tried to bake tiny rounded
shaped cakes called “Koekje”. They used the cake batter in the oven to
experiment what temperature is ideal for the cake to be baked properly. The
first attempt failed due to overheating and the cakes got hardened. And, this
way we got our favorite cookies. Before sharing with you some more interesting
facts about cookies, try the all-new Karachi
Osmania Biscuits, freshly baked from the worldwide famous, Karachi

As per the records
of the popular cookbooks, the origin of biscuits came from Roman. Before
setting out for voyages, the sailors needed some healthy and nutritious
foodstuff to carry along in the long extended sea journeys. The Egyptians prepared
thick flour paste on a pan, cooked it and left it to dry for few hours.
Naturally, the thick paste got hardened and was then cut into circle shapes to
bake until crisp. The sailors ate them with pepper and honey. The sole reason
for carrying biscuits was they could be stored for a long time without being
spoilt. In Egypt, these crispy biscuits
are called “Dhourra” and the Romans called them “Buccellum”. Even at times, sailors used to bake them
twice or thrice so that the crust hardens more and then they dunked them in coffee
or brine to get a better taste of it.
